چکیده
Knowledge of phylogenetic relatedness and cytogenetic characteristics can facilitate breeding programs interspecific hybridization in ornamentals. In this study genetic relationships, genome sizes chromosome numbers were determined a collection 82 lavender genotypes, including 15 hybrids. Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) marker analysis revealed 5 clusters, corresponding to the sections Lavandula, Stoechas, Dentatae, Pterostoechas Subnudae. Genome varied between 0.76 ± 0.02 pg 2C−1 4.80 0.06 ranged from 2n = 22 100. hybrids intermediate progenitors sizes. All analyzed hybrid genotypes characterized by even numbers, with 48 or 50. Using Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA) separate clusters identified progenitor species clusters. Polyploidy and/or aneuploidy was observed two genotypes: L. × intermedia ‘Heavenly Angel’ (2n 100) heterophylla ‘Big Boy James’ 66). Results obtained be used predict cross compatibility among different species, thus enabling targeted towards creation new improved Lavandula cultivars.

Chromosome numbers and genome size variation in Indian species of Curcuma (Zingiberaceae).
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Genome size and chromosome numbers are important cytological characters that significantly influence various organismal traits. However, geographical representation of these data is seriously unbalanced, with tropical and subtropical regions being largely neglected. In the present study, an investigation was made of chromosomal and genome size variation in the majority of Cu...
متن کاملGenome Size Estimates and Chromosome Numbers of Callicarpa L. (Lamiaceae)
Genome size estimates and chromosome number information can be useful for studying the evolution or taxonomy of a group and also can be useful for plant breeders in predicting cross-compatibility. Callicarpa L. is a group of ’140 species with nearly worldwide distribution. There are no estimates of genome size in the literature and the information on chromosome numbers is limited. Genome size e...
متن کاملChromosome Numbers for Some Erodium L'Hér (Geraniaceae) Species of Iran
Erodium (Geranaiceae) species are distributed in different habitats of Iran. Some species are of medicinal importance while some are well known weeds. There are no chromosome counts for Erdoium species of Iran. Chromosome numbers are given for six taxa of Erodium (Geraniaceae) from Iran: E. cicutarium (2n=36), E. ciconium(2n=18), E. malacoides (2n=20), E. moschatum (2n=20), E. neuradifolium (2n...
متن کاملChromosome Numbers and Karyotypes of Four Species Rubus L. from North of Iran
Karyotype study was performed across 7 populations of 4 Rubus species growing in Iran. The results showed that the chromosome numbers of R. sanctus (2n=2x=14) diploid, R. caesius, and R. discolor were (2n=4x=28) tetraploids, R. persicus (2n=8x=56) octoploid. The chromosome numbers of R. discolor, and R. persicus were reported here for the first time. Karyotypic formula also varied between the s...
